City: Alto Paraiso de Goia
State: Goias
Type of property: small holding
Size (ha): 11.6
Crops: ornamental, native fruits and other various vegetables for our own consumption
We speak: Portuguese, fluent English, some Spanish, very basic German
Description: Very simple place of very rustic living. Solar panel in a part of the structures with a bedroom and kitchen. Most of the land is on the Cerrado but there is also woods with stream and beautiful views. Located near the San Joaquin River in an area still well preserved with wild animals like: monkeys, deer, seriemas and even panthers. We are neighboring the national park. We are 1km from the main dirt road and 2.5km from the warm water springs. We are a bit isolated though, Located 52 km from Alto Paraiso, 17km from Vila Sao Jorge and 16 Km from the city of Colinas do Sul. Not so good for those wanting to come mostly to do tourism. The proposal here is more about living sustainably then production itself. The Alto Paraiso region has become a hotspot for many foreigners who search for an alternative life style close to the land. Located 3 hours from Brasilia by car or bus. The activities would be all those that are necessary on a rural lot, several agroecological projects are underway like: bio construction, dry toilets, water retention areas, agroforestry, solar heating and so on.
Accommodation: There is an area for camping or share the existing room depending on what we discuss. I can receive one or two people at most.
Food: The kitchen will be shared and we can cook together when on the property.
We are: an agronomist working with agroecology with the university in the settlements of the region. One cat as a pet.
When to come: I can receive all year round for short periods of time for now.
Additional comments: The volunteer will need to be independent as I may be away from the property a few nights at a time. Usually not more than two days at a time.

Type of property: agroflorestry
Size (ha): 12.5
Crops: banana, vegetables, lemon, and in the future extractivism of Jucara, goats and apismelifera
We speak: Portuguese, basic English and notions of Spanish
Description: With 95% of its area covered by native forest, and a good amount of fruit-bearing Jucara palm, apt to produce pulp. There is also a diversified orchard with a reasonable amount of bananas, silver, water, gold, apple, vinegar and quince. There is a hut with tools and supplies. An apartment with kitchen, living room, bathroom with shower with gas heating. And the house where the host family lives. The property has electricity and satellite internet recently installed, however, without a landline and no cell phone signal, there is signal on the access road at 500 m distance outside the property. The main activities are maintenance of orchard, banana picking, cleaning of orchard and forage areas ... take care of the chickens and feed the fish that are both for family use - we do not sell. Keeping the road clean and repairing some barrier falls, trees, holes etc. are more routine activities during the rainy season. The property is being organized in the long term to explore the production of the Jucaras present on the property and neighbors for processing and pulp (which is very similar to the acai). We will give preference to volunteers who have the ability to climb on palms and collect the clusters with the fruits. Experienced volunteers or who really wish to learn by growing bananas, macadamia, cocoa, coffee, lemon, orange, yams and some greens. It is also important to handle basic tools of agriculture as well as dealing with goats, bees and dogs. However, all on a small scale, the only culture we have any economic benefit is bananas. We also intend to work with alternative hosting. The volunteer will have weekends free for leisure and study.
Accommodation: An apartment with a double bed, and possibly if it is rented, a suite inside the main house and we also have area where can be set up a tent, you can use the bathroom of the hut that is open to the external side ... But at the moment, we can only receive only one volunteer.
Food: Typical Brazilian food, with some dishes based on Italian cuisine. Food will be served together with the host family. The diet is omnivorous. Although I was formed by committed practicing Catholics, alcoholic drinks are occasionally consumed, in a moderate way, in moments of fraternization ... After the ordinary and extraordinary tasks have been performed.
We are: A family consisting of the matriarch, hostess, her eldest son, 49 years old (the person in charge of the project) and an 80 year old great-aunt ... Accompanied by 04 dogs.
When to come: The whole year. The seasonality of the bananas are more productive in the spring/summer and the jucaras is during fall/winter.
Additional comments: Our intention with the registration in the wwoof is in addition to adding with the Organic Movement, is to create knowledge with the development and experimentation of techniques of agroecology, permaculture, agric messianic, biodynamic and traditional.

Remembering that at the moment we are the disease, but also, the only cure on this planet. We can generate more resources than we consume, we can live in peace with people, remembering that loving is the main work! Coincidences happen, meetings are realized, connections are provided, the land guides and approaches us, gives us the opportunity, fills our lungs and wipes our eyes to see the reconciliation !!! The property is in the steps of being build. Installation of water, construction of bathrooms, and first plantations. We are starting to establish ourselves on a raw land and roots. Accommodation: We can host up to three people. We offer a room in our house that would be shared among the guests. We can make available 1 double bed and 1 single mattress in the room. Furthermore we are building independent bungalows and there is also the possibility of camping in our area.
Food: Our desire is to share meals with our guests to be a moment of exchange and community life in our home. We live in the middle of the Atlantic Forest and like to follow the rhythms of nature. We wake up between 5:30 and 6:30 in the morning so breakfast will usually be shared at these times. As we wake up very early, our lunch is ready at noon and then have the habit of resting a bit. Dinner is served between 18:30 and 19:00 so that we can go to bed at 20:30. Our kitchen is open for those who do not wish to share the same meal times, however since we have a very open house, we ask that use of kitchen be restricted to specific times. We have a predominantly vegetarian diet and as healthy as possible. We only use extra virgin olive oil, and as a sweetener of our cakes and cookies, brown sugar.
We are: The story of our family comes from far away, geographically. We moved from Italy two years ago and chose this paradise corner in the middle of the Atlantic forest to be the place of transformation of our consciousness. A change of concept and values that made us, Iside and Lorenzo, rethink our lives, and look at each other and nod, this is the path we have chosen for our lives. Living in Italy we felt being squeezed withing a system, and the difficulty of acting and making this change in a practical way from that point, as this had already taken hold of our hearts. Here is our choice of the change in the middle of nature, to honor mother earth in our daily lives through gestures and actions that yield our lives more true, simple and full of love. Our inspiration was the arrival of Leone and the responsibility of welcoming this child into a world worth living. Our goal is to strip us gradually of the beliefs, habits, concepts we learn from small from a society that we now consider old, outdated and dangerous for Mother Earth and our hearts. Provide our children, who belong to the New Age, to grow up with values that favor the real transformation of our planet and humanity. We are Lorenzo (conceptual artist, founder of Tabia, a life project that unites art and love of nature), Iside (Naturopath, who believes that the best cure is love), Vittoria (courageous teenager, having opted for a comfortable life for a more challenging life and small Leone (2 years, coconut and palm oil collector, our master soul).

Today we practice something called the Great Nature Agriculture, where we seek to respect the 'talents' of the soil to develop our crops. We are reforesting the property to cultivate coffee in the shade, use animals such as cattle, horses, pigs and sheep to help manage. In addition we have vegetables that grow spontaneous (PANCs) we have a small garden; we also need help in harvest meals and management of the garden. The garden also grow aromatic plants used for essential oils extraction. We receive school visits, universities, interest groups in a natural, fairer and less polluting agriculture; we need help to meet these visitors.
Accommodation: We have a house for volunteers which has 2 bedrooms, kitchen and a bathroom. We can receive up to 3 volunteers.

We have been experimenting with different plantations, drawing on permaculture and agroforestry principles amongst others. We have an apiary with 10 hives and we are experimenting with alternative techniques too. Simon also works with wood and volunteers could help him with that sometimes. Occasionally, we sell products like honey, jams, chutneys and other preserves on small markets in Sao Paulo. Ana has also been experimenting with natural cosmetics and cleaning products. We expect you to help us with these activities during the day, for around 5 to 6 hours, with 1.5 day-off per week, and to keep our common area as well as the volunteer's house tidy and clean. We also receive guest from AirBnb and volunteers might be asked to help cleaning the house and preparing food for visitors, if needed. We are open to ideas for new projects, including reforestation and native tree planting. We have a small baby now and our daily routine has changed a little. It still includes meditation and swimming in the lake and sometimes sunset walks. We've built a pizza oven made of clay and we usually make great pizzas! Things you will like about our place: perfect climate: hot in the sun and cool in the shade; beautiful nature; opportunities to learn, exchange experiences and experiment in different areas; warm and relaxed people (but willing to work and share); opportunity to learn more and have new ideas for a self-sustainable life style; peace and quiet

Description: Javy and Cissa live in Itaipava, an hour and a half from Rio de Janeiro. The house, surrounded by mountains, is also a restaurant. We opened the space for people who want to live dining experiences outside of traditional restaurants. The model, called 'out there doors closed' or antirestaurant proposes another time and way of relating to food, more aligned with the slowfood movement. Javy is a chef and spent ten years cooking around the world. Born in Balcarce, interior of Argentina, he graduated in gastronomy in Mar del Plata in 2005. He lived in Costa Rica, Paraguay, Peru and England, working in the kitchen of hotels, restaurants, buffets and was also a teacher of cooking. In 2010 he wason a TV show in Argentina called "Cocina en Movimiento. Javy continued travelling and cooking in Uruguay, Chile, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Panama, and in Brazil since 2013. Here, he quit from the well known busy professional kitchens and found this model possible for the conscious and comfort food. Cissa is a writer, published two books of poetry and is currently living the creative process of a new project. She also writes about food for newspapers and magazines and is creator of the webseries Soul Kitchens. Together, they take care of a small vegetable garden and Zig and Fernet (dog and cat), listen to vinyls, drink wine and are pregnant of Caetano. The proposal here is to offer a super quiet lodging with amazing views and a lot of integration with nature - but not only that. Inspired by friends who have already made the house a place of creation and new practices, they want to start offering lodging with gastronomy classes, practices in the kitchen, visits to organic fairs, organic farms, and tasting of local products. In addition to the " indoors " activities, Itaipava is embraced by the chain of Mountains, where one can practice mountaineering and other sports for those who also want adventure. The waterfalls circuit is beautiful, super recommended. In Petropolis, 30 minutes from home, there are many sightseeing spots, restaurants and bars. Teresopolis is also a nearby town with various attractions.
Accommodation: We offer two rooms for lodging. In each room there is a double bed. We can receive up to 4 people.
Food: Javy is a chef and offers conscious nutrition courses. We eat everything - always with balance and seeking the origin of food. We produce many of the products we consume at home: jellies, ice cream, preserves, etc. The proposal for our guests is to offer classes and cooking practices according to their interests. Javy's cooking style is to take full advantage of the ingredients, using cooking influences of Latin American cuisine, using organic, fresh produce and a selection of special ingredients from our travels.

Crops: 2 small organic gardens

Description: Our project began with 12 individuals from different parts of the world. We started the project with a very open mind, not knowing exactly how it would formulate. The only certainty we had, was that we would not deviate from our common purpose, which was to learn together to genuinely: "Love your neighbor as yourself". Eventually, through persisting together and gaining a clearer vision, the Sanctuary became a bright, loving 'neighborhood' that offers its space to volunteers and students internationally, to learn of our demonstration and the manner in which it is integrated into our daily tasks without compromising our core values. SERVICE The willingness to serve and give everything is a must. We usually have some kind of construction project on the go, so those with carpentry, building, plumbing, electrical skills, use of chainsaw, etc are always welcome, as well as a mechanic to keep our vehicles, lawnmowers, chainsaw, strimmers maintained. On a day-to-day basis, you could be helping onsite with things like cleaning, kitchen, gardening, maintenance, construction, etc. To keep our landscape (=mind) beautiful, requires constant attention; mowing the grass, clearing undergrowth, etc. In a more supplementary capacity, as part of our Community Outreach program, there may also be opportunities to volunteer & offer any skills you have at our local school (please note the school is closed in from December - January and July - August). The house is an integrated demonstration; a miraculous example of how consistency, patience and trust in the benevolence of the Universe produces results. This next season we are expanding the vegetable garden as well as our Orchard. We donLt radically try to sustain a 100% organic garden. Rather, our focus lies on simplicity and resourcefulness. (As a natural effect, our produce ends up being organic - but we donLt obsess over that). We are looking for minds which are open to the miraculous and are able to offer simple solutions. The organic approaches to growing are always welcome as long as it is understood that we are not interested in making an ideology out of it. The volunteering hours are short (4 hours), but most of the time very physical. We need a lot of help in the fields and in the garden: preparing the soil and beds, sowing, weeding, digging holes, mulching, harvesting and so on. If you feel inclined to be a part of this garden project specifically, please say so in your application to us. APPLICATIONS --------------------------------------- We only consider applications that answer the following question: "If you had to summarise your reasons to volunteer with us in 3 lines, what would you say?" --------------------------------------- If you are able to respond in English, this would be preferable but not essential. Please really take your time to think about this question and to feel it out, as it is very important to us. If you have any specific skills, please state them as well. Please note, we have a large number of inquiries many of whom start booking 2 months ahead, so our advice is not to leave it until the last minute if you really feel a passion to stay with us. Once you have made a firm reservation, we will send you all the details for your stay here. "
Food: Guys tend to help themselves in the morning for breakfast (homemade bread & jams, local milk & cheese, eggs & fruit delivered twice a week. ), some in the Main House and some in their own houses - the Guest House has a little mini kitchen area. We have our main meal at lunch. Food is predominantly vegetarian Brazilian diet with additions from our organic garden: lunch tends to be rice, beans, vegetable dish and salad.
We are: The residents (about 30 of us) are from all over the globe: Spain, England, Germany, Austria, Canada, States, Venezuela, Colombia, Argentina, Ecuador; plus a thriving movement of volunteers coming in & out.
When to come: all year around
Additional comments: Please remember this is a fairly simple, rural location so you will not need a huge amount of stuff - we recommend not bringing more than two small suitcases or backpack for personal belongings. These items are essential: Torch/flashlight, Walking/work boots, work clothes (& work gloves would be useful), protective sun hat & alarm clock.

Type of property: Reforestation of the Atlantic Forest-not a farm
Size (ha): 75
Crops: curitiba, cinnamon, guapuruvu, Brazilian wood, pau ferro
We speak: Portuguese
Description: We are dedicated to reforesting the property with native plants in extinction. Our main activity is to produce 4 types of organic plants to be sold: olive, lichie, coffee, and Palmito Jucassara. We collect the seeds, cultivate and plant them. These should start to produce in 2012. The personal who takes care of the functionality of the farm speaks portuguese only. It would be best if WWOOFers know some Portuguese. The chores in the farm depends on the season, here is a summary of the activities: September - February (Summer): planting of nurseries. During September - October we collect the seeds. This requires knowledge of climbing trees. From March to June, we clean the nurseries planted, on average 20,000 per year. From July to August - maintenance and construction of small facilities, such as new barn, wooden dryer, stone mill, maintenance of farm access, etc.. Also in August and September to prepare areas for planting. In the rainy season from January to April, field work may be interrupted. In this case we work in carpentry and nurseries, which are protected from the rain. Wwoofers make trips through the woods accompanied by responsible who will be showing the native species, wildlife and assists in seed collection, georeferencing, open trails, climbing trees, etc. Moreover, the region is full of trails, waterfalls besides having a very rich fauna, by having both creativity and liking the subject, there is plenty of opportunities for development and research. The reason for this wealth is that we are exactly at the interface of the cerrado with forest and it provides us a rich eco-system. We handle dangerous tools like chainsaw, mower, scythe, machete, so it is important that wwoofers inform us about the knowledge with such tools, otherwise they should learn how to operate these tools. We do not accept alcoholic drinks and cigarettes on the property.
Accommodation: We have a house available for a total of 20 for students, wwoofers, professors, researchers, etc.
Food: We offer food, but you will need to make your own food as we do not have a cook any more.
We are: A family that resides in Rio de Janeiro and that every weekend goes to the farm.
When to come: all year
Additional comments: Our mission is to show our neighbors that there are other sources of income besides milk, because the region is a major producer of dairy products, which creates deforestation to allow open pastures. Also, we would like WWOOFers to visit the elementary schools in the town, because the children are happy to learn more about other cultures. They, who mostly come from low income families, do not have many opportunities, and they consider WWOOFERs very important people in their lives.

We are located in a place of difficult access and have no power but the power of love beats here. It is important to bring flashlight, better if is headband flashlight. I have a place for one person to sleep, a den, a small house on the rocks. It is possible to sleep in a tent for 5 people, but if privacy is important then it is best that you bring your own tent. It is important also to bring sleeping bag as it gets cold at night. I live in a humble house of made from mud and intend to build a community kitchen next to the house with stove and oven. If you want more details please email me. LIGHT, PEACE AND LOVE.

Description: We have two projects at two different locations: come and help us care for our EcoCentre's urban permaculture gardens in the centre of town and a beautiful land not so far from Alto Paraiso belonging to the same Project. Alto Paraiso is situated 2.5 hours by car/bus from the capital Brasilia and is a very curious little town where foreigners and brazilians flock to in search of an alternative lifestyle closer to the land. The landscapes are epic and one can visit a different waterfall per day for life. Our Eco Centre where the permaculture gardens are located is in the centre of town and our land is 13 kms from Alto Paraiso on an unpaved road. In town we have formed an NGO, a collective of like-spirited people to work on environmental awareness and conservation projects in the region. Please see our project against the uncontrolled use of fire which devastates parts of the region during dry season. We have a great building in the centre of town from where we run these projects from and have just acquired some gardens where we are working on an urban permaculture space with some bamboo eco chalets and accommodation for travellers. We also have a most inspiring piece of land where we plant organic produce and practice agroforestry and want to bio-build another couple of structures preparing the space to receive visitors interested in retreats that incorporate raw food, detox, medicine, arts and music. We have an organic Shiitake mushroom cultivation project in our forest with which we need your help... you will be learning much about this amazing source of alternative protein and help us get the mushrooms ready to sell at the local organic Saturday market. We are the first to receive spring waters, no contamination - pure mineral water to drink and bathe in - a true blessing... and you can swim in our natural pool after a healthy Finnish sauna experience. We are also building some bamboo cabins, dry toilets, planting fruit trees, caring for vegetable patches and installing a lovely flowform - i.e we need help ASAP! We can guarantee that both these spots are special places in Alto Paraiso/High Paradise. Come WWOOF and be part of a great project that aims to bring environmental education and awareness to a region under threat by lack of vision.
Accommodation: at the ecocentre, volunteers will initially sleep in tents and once cabins are ready, WWOOFers can move in. On the land there is accommodation in a bell tent and in good rooms separate from the main house or one can put up their own tent and use the house facilities. There is also the possibility of sleeping in a magical treehouse 10m up in the canopy when it is not being used. Can can receive up to 4 volunteers.
Food: In town there is a communal kitchen and people can either fix their own food or there might be someone cooking if there are a few workers on site. On the land, volunteers have a private kitchen of their own and can decide whether they want to cook their food or join the local workers.
We are: a Londoner that just moved back to Brazil, her country of origin to live closer to nature. Zoologist, environmentalist, permaculturist, ongoing student, activist, creative, seeker. In town; managing to hook up with some great people that are joining her projects and those on the land; currently living by the foot of the most amazing cliffs with some chickens, a couple of dogs, 3 cats, 2 local helpers, 3 species of wild monkeys in the forest-back garden, macaws and toucans flying overhead.

Situated on the border of Caparao National Park, a region located within the Atlantic Rainforest, is among the most biodiverse regions in the world ? it is home to a greater number of distinct species per m2 than the Amazon Rainforest! The site covers an area of three hectares (30,000m2) of steeply sloping terrain which has been cultivated according to permaculture practices. In addition to the three houses built on the property, there is plenty of space for camping. Our houses and other buildings (tool shed, compost toilet, etc.) were constructed with materials reclaimed from urban demolitions and materials found naturally in the surrounding environment including clay, reforested wood, bamboo and stone. We use compost toilets which provide us with a consistent source of organic fertilizer which goes back into the earth to nourish our perennial crops. Likewise, 100% of organic waste from our kitchen goes directly back into the earth, thereby reducing overall energy losses. Although we have not achieved 100% reliance on food that we grow, the majority of what we eat comes from what we plant and collect locally in the region. We always maintain the possibility for the exchange of labour, handicrafts and agricultural products with our neighbours and above all, we aim to promote the practice of a sustainable solidarity economy within our network of conviviality. The WWOOFer can experience agricultural practices and life within a community that demands very low overall energetic costs. All farming is done without the use of machines, without refrigerators, or electric heating.
